As you’re considering the Kellogg MBA program, you may be wondering more about MMM, our dual-degree program with the McCormick School of Engineering and how it differs from the traditional Two-Year MBA program. We have some exciting new changes set to debut with the Class of 2016, so we hope to provide you more insight into this program option and how it will prepare you to reenter the workforce when your two years here come to an end.

Program Overview and Changes

If you’re unfamiliar with the MMM program, it is designed to equip future business leaders to drive the entire product or service innovation life cycle, especially as product managers. What this means is that you’ll not only receive a rigorous education in business and design innovation, you’ll also gain a solid foundation in technology, which results in two degrees – a Kellogg MBA and a master’s from McCormick.

To that end, we’re adding the following new dimensions to our design innovation and technology curriculum in hopes to better provide future business leaders like yourself the right tools and frameworks to help you solve complex challenges in the 21st century:

  • New required courses: Innovation Frontiers, Organizing for Innovation and Design of Networks are among the additions.
  • Additional credits: The number of credits will increase from 24.5 to 28.5, extending the program to seven academic quarters. The incoming class will start in June 2014 and graduate in June 2016. Summer internships will still occur at the end of the first year.
  • More MMM-specific recruiting opportunities: New opportunities will be available, in addition to those open to all full-time students through the Kellogg Career Management Center and continued support from a dedicated MMM career coach.

Admissions Criteria

While the changes highlighted above are critical in preparing you to fulfill your potential as a strong business leader, the admissions criteria itself will not be changing. Our team will be looking for candidates who fit our current Kellogg criteria and can also demonstrate technical aptitude and show a capacity for analytic and creative thinking. An engineering degree is not required.

We hope you are as excited about these new enhancements as we are. Our MMM Program started 20 years ago to meet marketplace demands and has continued to evolve with them. That type of innovation has been key to building the reputation of the program and success of our graduates.

If you have any questions remaining about MMM, send us an email at mmm@northwestern.edu. Otherwise, we look forward to seeing your applications this fall! Reminder: the Round 1 deadline is October 16.
